Refreshing, aromatic, and precisely balanced, the Juliet & Romeo is best understood as a Gin Sour with a distinctly fresh, garden-led profile. The original recipe specifies using a classic London dry gin, which has fresh lime juice with equal parts simple syrup, creating tension without excess sweetness or sharpness. Muddled cucumber and mint introduce a clean, cooling clarity.
A measured touch of rose water lifts the aromatics and accentuates the gin’s botanical character. A few drops of Angostura bitters contribute depth while adding subtle visual drama. The recipe includes a pinch of salt. The intention is functional rather than flavour forward. Salt heightens the cucumber’s freshness and sharpens perception of brightness.
Precision matters. Add sparingly. Taste. Adjust.
The drink should remain crisp, vibrant, and refreshing. Never saline.
