This is our first liqueur using hand picked green walnuts from the three beautiful walnut trees growing behind the distillery and a young tree in our small botanical garden. Walnuts have been used in spirits for many years, but the Italians are famous for their Nocino.
We slice the walnuts into quarters, mascerate them with our blend of spices for 6 months, before filtering and sweetning with organic maple syrup. It is left for another 6 months to mature before bottling.
It's spicy, sweet, and slightly bitter, and delicious served drizzled over vanilla ice cream, or served on its own as an aperitif. It makes an excellent Espresso Martini or Chocolate Martini.
Pair with cheese after dinner.
- Bottle size 350ml @42% ABV
- Macerated and bottled at Downton Distillery
- Notes of walnut, nutmeg, coffee, maple.
- 50 bottles have been made
- Contains nuts
