Pomegranates are often called "winter jewels" because of their vibrant, jewel-like seeds, known as arils, which add a burst of colour and flavour to the colder months. Pomegranates thrive in late autumn and early winter, making them a seasonal favorite during a time when fresh, colorful fruit options are more limited.
Their association with festive meals and their rich symbolism of prosperity and renewal further enhance their reputation as the "jewels" of winter.
