PRIVATEER SHOT GLASS
For centuries, explorers have been lured by the secrets of the sea. The ‘Golden Era’ of exploration was between 1488 and 1597 when Europeans began exploring the world by sea. New discoveries and treasures were found causing tension and conflict within Europe.
During the reign of Queen Elizabeth, she encouraged the development of a supplementary navy. These ‘privateers’ or ‘sea dogs’ such as Sir Walter Raleigh and Sir Francis Drake were used to patrol both the Caribbean and Spanish Coasts to raid the Spanish treasure fleets returning home. This allowed her to distance herself from their raiding activity while enjoying the benefits of their plunder.

It should be NEVER be washed in a dishwasher the chemicals in the detergent will react with the pewter and ruin the finish.
We recommend washing by hand having removed the leather cover, in hot soapy water and dried with a soft cloth.
When drying your pewter, keep the direction of the cloth in a straight up and down motion, never in circles.
Pewter is a soft metal and will easily scratch with a hard cloth.
